  • Abstract
    A complex finite strip method of analysis is used to study the elastic local buckling of the web of an I-section subjected to pure shear.The variation of the local buckling coefficient with buckling half-wavelength for different beam geometries is given. Local buckling coefficients for a range of web geometries are also given, and a design method is proposed.
