Abstract
One hundered and eight male and female commerical broiler chickens reared under two different ambient temperatures (20.C vs.30.C) were starved and killed at 45 days of age.Body weights were recorded the end of the starvation period (starved weight) and when the birds had been plucked (Plucked weight). The weight of the carcasses and abdominal fat weight were also recorded, and the dressing percentage and the fat/carcass percentage were measured.High temperature had significan effects on all carcass traits except on fat/carcass percentage.Sex was significant factor of variation for all considered criteria excent for abdominal fat weight and dressing percentage.Males raised under a normal temperature had significantly higher starved, plucked and carcass weights. The considered traits for males reared under high temperatures and females and females reared under normal temperatures were not significantly different.
