92Effect of Hexamethylenetetramine Dicyanamide Cadmium Nanoparticles particles on Gas separation properties of Polyurethane urea Membrane Sahar favakeh s favakeh@ce iut ac ir Date of Submission Department of Chemical Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisors Morteza Sadeghi m sadeghi@cc iut ac ir Abstract Recently Membrane technology has attracted extensive research interests due to theiradvantages such as simplicity low in cost and low energy consumption where polymericmembranes affirm their performance Polyurethane as a rubber polymer has shown promisingresults In this studyeffect of Hexamethylenetetramine Dicyanamide Cadmiumnanostructured particles on permeability property of Polyurethane membrane wasinvestigated Oxygen nitrogen methane and carbon dioxide were used Membranes wereprepared by solvent evaporation method using phase separation Gas separation wasconducted at pressure of 6 8 and 10 barg and temperature of 25 30 and 40 C membraneswere characterized using FTIR XRD and SEM The results showed nanoHexamethylenetetramine Dicyanamide Cadmium particles distributed uniformly through themembrane due to the desirable mixing degree of the HexamethylenetetramineDicyanamide Cadmium in polymer and a good compatibility between these two phases Wefound that in pure PU containing 2 5 wt Hexamethylenetetramine Dicyanamide Cadmiumparticles the permeability of carbon dioxide methane oxygen and nitrogen gases increasedfrom 74 09 10 06 8 09 and 3 36 Barrer to 140 00 15 49 12 99 and 4 60 Barrer in otherword the permeability values increased 88 96 53 98 60 57 and 36 90 respectively It was observed by entering Hexamethylenetetramine Dicyanamide Cadmium nanoparticles tothe PU matrix the separation of CO2 from CH4 CO2 from N2 and O2 from N2 wereincreased It was observed the most amount of ideal selectivity of CO2 CH4 CO2 N2 andO2 N2 were 9 04 30 44 and 2 82 in the nano composite membrane containing 2 5 wtHexamethylenetetramine Dicyanamide Cadmium particles Keywords Gas separation Polyurethane Urea Polyurethane Membrane NanocompositeMembrane Hexamethylenetetramine Dicyanamide Cadmium
