57Study of Infiltration During Irrigation by Bed Method with Magnified Municipal Effluent Amir Hossein Delforuzi Amirhossein delforuzi@gmail com January 22 2015 Department of Water Engineering College of Agriculture Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Alireza Soltani Todeshki Assistant Professor soltaniar@cc iut ac ir AbstractConsidering the importance of infiltration and necessity of waste water effluents usage for irrigation effect of irrigation water quality and magnet technology on infiltration process was studied in irrigationby bed To achieve this objective three treatments including conventional water effluent and magneticeffluent were considered and then a completely randomized design was carried out with four replicationsand five irrigation events To evaluate the effect of the treatments on infiltration two parametersincluding basic infiltration rate and average infiltration rate in three time intervals two half hour intervalsand one hour interval also coefficients of Kostiakov and Philip equations were taken into consideration As expected the basic infiltration rate was reduced in all treatments through the irrigation season However relative changes of basic infiltration for effluent treatment were less than the conventionalwater treatment and magnetic field decreased the effect of effluent treatment so that the difference of thetreatments became non significant Additionally average infiltration rate analysis was relatively similarto what reported for the basic infiltration rate but the differences were less significant Also statisticalanalysis showed that power of the Kostiakov equation as an indicator of the stability of soil structure hasbeen decreased during irrigation season in which the effluent treatment had the lowest descending trend like the other parameters Investigation of Philip coefficients showed that sorptivity S of water treatment was more than effluenttreatment so it seems that irrigation with wastewater treatment reduces initial infiltration rate However steady state infiltration rate A of water treatment was less than wastewater treatment which indicatesincreasing of infiltration in the long time Furthermore magnetic treatment had no significant effect onthese coefficients Generally in this study using wastewater increased the volume of water infiltrated intothe soil during the experiment time Keywords irrigation by bed infiltration process wastewater effluent magnetic coefficients of Kostiakov equation
