The fabrication of electrochemical sensors and biosensors using nanostructure materials as modifier for analysis of pharmaceutical and biological compounds methyldopa xanthine doxorubicin hydrogen peroxide and glucose Neda Askarpour E mail address n askarpour@ch iut ac ir February 2015 Department of Chemistry Isfahan University of Technology 84156 83111 Isfahan IranSupervisor Prof Behzad Rezaei E mail address rezaei@cc iut ac irAdvisor Prof Ali Asghar Ensafi Department Graduate Program Coordinator Assist Prof Alireza Najafi Department of Chemistry Isfahan University of Technology 84156 83111 Isfahan Iran Tel 98 313 3912351 Fax 98 313 3912350Abstract In this research it has been used various nanostructure materials such as functionalizedmultiwall carbon nanotubes gold nanostructures and copper nanoparticles and variousmodifiers such as specific monoclonal antibody sol gel and prussion blue for sensitive andselective determination of some pharmaceutical and biological compounds Scanning electronmicroscopy SEM transmission electron microscopy TEM atomic force microscopy AFM X ray diffraction XRD analysis and FT IR spectroscopy were employed forcharacterization of the various layers that were formed at the surface of modified electrodes The electrochemical behavior of the modified electrodes in the presence of methyldopa xanthine doxorubicin hydrogen peroxide and glucose was investigated employing cyclicvoltammetry CV electrochemical impedance spectroscopy EIS and hydrodynamicchronoamperometry In the first section a simple carboxylated multiwall carbon nanotubes CMWCNTs modified glassy carbon electrode was developed for sensitive determination of methyldopausing adsorptivestripping voltammetry These studies show that the oxidation of mathyldopais facilitated at the surface of GCE which is casted with CMWCNTs and remarkably peakcurrent enhanced comparing to the bare electrode due to its adsorption on the electrodesurface In the second section a thin film molecularly imprinted sol gel MIP sol gel waselectrochemically synthesized and used to modify pencil graphite electrode PGE coatedwith MWCNTs for determination of xanthine The detection of xanthine concentration wasbased on the decrease of the peak current after the incubation of xanthine on to the electrodewhich was due to the increase of molecular cavities on the MIP sol gel layer and thusincreases of the ability of the redox probe to access the electrode surface
