Torque Ripple Reduction of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Caused by Non Sinusoidal Back EMF Mohammad Ali Amirian m amirian@ec iut ac ir Date of Submission June 24 2015 Department of Electrical And Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor S M Saghaeian Nejad saghaian@cc iut ac irAdvisor M Mojiri m mojiri@cc iut ac irAbstract At present different kinds of electric drives designed for different applications are widely used inindustry High power density high torque to inertia ratio high speed performance capability and goodefficiency are some of the distinct advantages of permanent magnet synchronous machine which havemade it a reliable choice for high performance applications Many efforts have been made heretoforeto reach smoothness which is a necessary torque characteristic for an advanced drive Un ideality ofB EMF waveforms which is the result of un optimized motor design is considered as an importantsource of pulsating torque To compensate unwanted effects of this deficiency control techniqueshave been introduced that try to reduce electromagnetic torque ripples caused by B EMF harmonicsby means of motor currents shaping In this research optimized reference currents are injected tomotor through multiple reference frame MRF control method to obtain this goal Employing MRFmethod necessitates motor currents components extraction to be regulated to their reference values Different methods of signal harmonics extraction have been formerly presented among which adap tive notch filter ANF is preferable because of high reliability good dynamic response and lowcomputational burden for the processor Therefore this technique has been utilized in this research toextract three phase currents harmonics Control techniques have been simulated in Matlab Simulinkand implemented in experimental setup Keywords PMSM Multiple reference frame control Adaptive notch filter
