Stochastic Ordes and its Application in Reliability Farahnaz Teimoori f teimoori@math iut ac ir 2016 Department of Mathematical Sciences Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Supervisor Dr Sare Goli s goli@cc iut ac ir Advisor Dr Maryam Kelkinnama m kelkinnama@cc iut ac ir 2010 MSC 60 E 15 Keywords Stochastic Orders Multivariate stochastic orders Percentile Residual Life Abstract This thesis is an extension and generalization of the work s done by Ebrahim Amini Sereshtand Baha Eldin Khaledi 1 Yan Shen and Zhisheng Ye 21 In reliability engineering coherent systems have a key role in the study of the reliability of technicalsystems In this thesis we introduce lifetime measures like the reliability function the hazar ratefunction the reversed hazard rate function the mean residual life time the mean path life time Suppose that X1 Xn be a random sample from a distribution function F that denote lifetimes ofn components of a coherent system and we know the system fails at Xk n since we are not awareof the exact time at which the system has been failed the residual lifetimes of the remaining n k k k components denoted by X1 Xn k are no longer independent but exchangeable On the otherhand in this study multivariate stochastic comparisons of two vectors of lifetimes of the remainingcomponents in the two sample problems are studied and some su cient conditions under which mul tivariate mixture models are compared stochastically with respect to the multivariate likelihood ratioordering the multivariate hazard rate ordering and the multivariate reversed hazard rate orderingare provided These comparisons are done for di erent choices of the mixed distributions as wellas mixing distributions The new results obtained are applied to compare multivariate mixtures oflocation models Residual life is an important concept in many disciplines with respect to the subject investigates
