125 Improving mineral reserve estimation of Anomaly number3 at the Golgohar iron deposit using non linear Kriging methods disjunctive and probability Akram Fathi akram fathi@mi iut ac ir Date of submission 21 June 2017 Department of Mining Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Dr Nader Fathianpour fathiani@cc iut ac ir Dr Hooshang asadiharooni hooshang@cc iut ac ir AbstractDue to the decreasing grad of ore deposits increased operating costs and high pricefluctuations of mineral in recent years improvement the short and long term design was veryimportant The accurate estimation was an important issue in mining The profitability of amine depended on selective extraction Linear estimation methods such as ordinary andsimple kriging usually made incorrect estimation of tonnage and ore grade So increased therisk of mining operations This risk would be more critical when choosing the dimensions ofthe selected mining units smaller than the boreholes interval The design of selected miningoperations required identifying local recoverable reserves functions That means it wasimportant to known the effect of changed mining panel size on estimation of tonnage andgrades Theoretically this required estimating local distributions within each panel By usingcut off grades only part of the panel was considered as an ore could be retrieved locally Nonlinear estimators such as disjunctive kriging and probability kriging could be used toevaluate an unbiased estimation of ore with each grade and unit of mining In order tocompare the linear and nonlinear estimation methods in this study three methods such asordinary probability and disjunctive kriging was used to estimation economic gradedistribution of Fe in Goharzamin iron mine There were three mineralization zones The LowMagnetite Zone was the main mineralization zone thus the data of its exploratory boreholeshad been selected for evaluation After preliminary statistical studies the length of 5 meterswas chosen for compositing Variography maps showed that azimuth 180 and 90 as the mainorientation and the vertical orientation of the anisotropy respectively Selective mining unitsand extractive panels had been selected 15 25 25 and 15 100 100m All geostatisticscalculations such as variograms cross variograms Gaussian block variograms indicator andranking variables and implementation of kriging algorithms was done using the Isatissoftware To validate and evaluate the estimated results of all three methods actual data boreholes data extended to blocks and panels had been used The results showed that thetonnage metal content and grade estimated by ordinary kriging were lower actual values Disjunctive and Probability kriging provided much better estimation with high correlation by
