Diversity Gain Improvement in Spatial Modulation Based Systems With Antenna Selection Approach Azade S Tabatabaei as tabatabaei@ec iut ac ir June 19 2017 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisor Dr foroogh S Tabataba fstabataba@cc iut ac ir AbstractSpatial Modulation SM and space shift keying SSK modulation has been recently proposed as anew transmission approachs for MIMO systems These modulations need only one RF chain for datatransmission due to the working mechanism of SM which only one antenna is activated for data trans mission at any signaling time interval Eliminating Inter Channel Interfrence ICI simple transieverdesign avoiding inter antenna synchronization and increasing the spectral efficiency without increas ing the bandwith requirement are the among advantages of this technique However this modulationis not able to achieve transmit diversity The diversity order of this technique is equal to the number ofrecieve antennas To deal with this problem several antenna selection algorithms based on feedbackare introduced in this thesis Transmit antennas are divided into K groups including the same numberof antennas The receiver selects one group in each transmission block using a proposed criterion forselecting the antennas according to CSI at each signaling time interval Then the receiver sends thegroup index to the transmitter through ideal feedback channel to be used for sending information Then the transmitter turns on an antenna in the corresponding antenna group and sends the information bits In each chapter the Average Bit Error Rate ABER performance of the proposed criteria is calcu lated exatcly or in special case or upper bound The results of Monte Carlo simulation and numericalanalysis shows the incrasing of the diversity gain of the system Key Words MIMO Spatial Modulation SSK Transmit diversity
