Design and manufacturing the Silica aerogel Polyvinyl alcohol nanofiber structure for controlled fluconazole delivery and investigate its effect on Candida Albicans for use in clothing Mehran Afrashi m afrashi@tx iut ac ir September 17 2017 Department of Textile Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Dr Dariush Semnani d semnani@cc iut ac ir Dr Zahra Talebi z talebi@cc iut ac irAbstractToday with advances in science changes in the type of drug use have been made Innormal condition after drug use a large amount of drugs enter in the body that with after afew hours decreases In drug delivery systems release certain of drug and this amount ofdrug will constant Candida albicans is a type of fungus pathogenic and its treatment isusually through oral administration of fluconazole Long term use of medication iscausing side effects that so usually dissuade patients from continuing treatment works Tosolve this problem do researches in the field of treatment of this sickness by underwearcontain drug Methods such that PVA solution contains Fluconazole was electrospiningon the fabric and then used for In vivo testing Recently surface properties and pore sizeof wide range of microstructures been use for drug delivery Thus the problems of drugdelivery such as poor solubility of drug and poor bio distribution were solved Silica aerogels are porous material that has very lowly density 0 003 0 3 g cm3 andhighly surface area 400 1200 m2 g Because of the unique properties of aerogels theyhave been used for drug delivery Hitherto researchers investigate release of drugs suchas iboprofen ketoprofen micronazole with use aerogels Studies show that drug loaded in hydrophilic aerogels has more solubility rathercrystalline form of drug Smirnowa and et al loaded Ketoprofen and Griseofuluin in thesilica aerogel and shown that maximum loading of drug relate on chemical structure ofdrug Also Guenther and et al used of silica aerogel drug loaded for use skin drugdelivery and shown that release and influence of drug loaded in aerogel is better thanconventional form of drug The purpose of this study is usage of PVC nanofibers and nano aerogel structure as alayer with placement on cloth or sanitary pads for controlled release of drug Thus theside effects of use oral medications will be reduced and process improvement to controlthe disease Keywords Silica aerogel nanofiber polyvinyl alcohol drug delivery systems fluconazole Candidaalbicans
