22 Green preparation of PVC and PVA nanocomposite films having TiO2 nanoparticles coupled with BSA via ultrasonic technique Sima Shamsaddini Motlagh shamsaddini0815@gmail com 2017 12 10 Department of Chemistry Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 I R IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Prof Shadpour Mallakpour E mail mallak@cc iut ac ir mallak777@yahoo com mallakpour84@alumni ufl eduAbstract In the first research project the Poly vinyl chloride TiO2 Bovine serum albumin BSA nanocomposite films were fabricated TiO2 nanoparticles NPs due to their high surfacearea and the presence of hydroxyl groups on their surface tend to accumulate in the matrixof polymers and will have accumulation mode that reduses their performances For this purpose initially the surface of these NPs was modificated by a green andfriendly environment molecules sech as BSA For this purpose ultrasound waves wereused Then to ensure which the NPs were modified the Fourier transform infraredspectroscopy FT IR Energy dispersive x ray EDX and Thermal gravimetric analysis TGA were performed from modified TiO2 BSA NPs The FT IR was demonstrated thepresence of BSA The EDX analysis by showing the elements like sulfur and nitrogen demonstrated which BSA was place on the surface of TiO2 NPs finally the TGA testshowed that about 14 BSA was located on the surface of the NPs After preparing the TiO2 BSA NPs the PVC TiO2 BSA NC films with differentperecentage weight 3 6 and 9 wt were fabricated All three NC films were successfullyprepared by ultrasonic waves and their properties were investigated by using techniquessuch as FT IR EDX Field emission scanning electron microscopy FE SEM X raydiffraction Transmission electron microscopy TEM Ultraviolet visible TGAMechanical and contact angle tests The results show the improvement of the optical andthermal properiese for the fabricated NC and also increases in the wetabbility behavior Atthe end the photocatalytic activity of prepared NC film modified NPs was evalluted forthis aim the PVC TiO2 BSA NC 6 wt was selected and the photocatalytic test wascarried out to remove the methylene blue In the second research project The mechanical and thermal tests showed that themechanical strength and thermal stability of the produced NC were increased than the purePVA FE SEM images showed a spherical morphology for modified NPs that had uniformdistribution in polymer matrix The size of NPs was estimated 29 nm in the polymer matrixby TEM test Keyword Polymer nanocomposites Poly vinyl chloride Poly vinyl alcohol TiO2 BSA Ultrasound waves
