Design of Novel Cooperative Applications in Device to Device Communication based on Game Theory Mehdi Naderi Soorki m naderisoorki@ec iut ac ir February 7 2018 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree Ph D Language Farsi Supervisor Prof Hossein Saidi and Prof Mohammad Hossein Manshaei hsaidi manshaei @cc iut ac ir Abstract In the recent years the demand of a higher capacity and connectivity for mobile wireless communications leads todesign 5G cellular wireless network To satisfy the ever increasing demand for mobile cellular wireless communications the proposed 5G network will be based on a multi tier architecture consisting of macro cells different types of licensedsmall cells relays and device to device D2D communications One of the main advantage of D2D communicationsis the implementation of a cooperative device relaying in the D2D tier Using the cooperative device relaying mobiledevices in a network can function as transmission relays for each other and realize distributed D2D networks One of themain challenges in the D2D communications is to implement cooperative and non cooperative D2D applications in a waythat even selfish users tempt to participate in Thus in this research the interaction between mobile users is theoreticallyanalyzed and modeled using game theory Then to increase the overall efficiency of 5G network the protocols in whichmobile users automatically and independently make their decisions with low signaling over head are proposed For thenon cooperative applications the collaborative real time content delivery and on line cooperative virtual multiple input multiple output antenna protocols are proposed In the collaborative real time content delivery protocol self punishmentmechanisms to force mobile users to cooperation in relaying content are designed On the average the collaborative real timecontent delivery protocol increases the energy efficiency up to 42 with respect to the multi cast scenario In the on linecooperative virtual multiple input multiple output antenna protocol the base station as a trusted third party helps selfishmobile users to relay other s data On the average the on line cooperative virtual multiple input multiple output antennaprotocol increases the energy efficiency up to 35 with respect to the single input multiple output antenna protocol Forthe cooperative application the problem of cooperative group formation of machine type devices under stochastic change ofthe cellular network is modeled Then a distributed algorithm to find stable coalitions of machine type devices is designed The simulation results show that the proposed distributed coalition formation algorithm respectively optimizes the energyconsumption and fail ratio up to 36 and 31 with respect to the non cooperative scenario Key Words 5G cellular network Device to device Tier Game Theory Mechanism Design
