Mechanical properties of ultra high performance concrete reinforced with fibers Hadi Bahmani HadiBahmani110@gmail com June 2 2018 Department of Civil Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Davood Mostofinejad dmostofi@cc iut ac ir AbstractAlthough several investigations have been carried out on ultra high performance concreteto steel fibers few researchers have investigated the effect of synthetic and mineral fiberson the mechanical properties of ultra high performance concrete Most researchers also used microsilica as a second component of cement material In this research five types of synthetic and mineral fibers Barchipel fibers polypropylene fibers nylon fibers ceramic fibers and polyester fibers and six differentlevels of hybrid fibers were investigated to investigate the effect of these fiber surfaces on the mechanical properties of ultra high performance concrete used Also the effect of replacing zeolite pozzolan with micro silica and the use of syntheticmicro silica and limestone powder on the mechanical properties of ultra highperformance concrete were reinforced on the fibers In order to achieve the desiredcompressive strength four different treatments wet treatments autoclave treatments heat treatment and combined treatment were used Compressive and four point bending tests were used to check the mechanical propertiesof this concrete Using different processing methods in samples containing microsilica atall different levels of the fiber used in a pressure resistance of more than 150 MPa whilespecimens containing zeolite pouzolanes with a pressure of more than 120 MPa provided All the levels of the fibers used increase the flexural strength and formability of the non fibrous state but in terms of the shape of the macro fibers and hybrid fibers better results are obtained than microfiber fibers All levels of the fibers used to increase the durability and rupture energy indices in all ofthe treatments Among the different types of fibers used in the Barchip fiber they couldachieve closer results to steel fibers Moisture treatment results in better ductility andbending strength than other treatments The use of limestone powder as a substitute forcement resulted in a slight reduction in compressive strength flexural strength andductility of fiber reinforced specimens while the use of zeolite significantly reduced thecompressive strength It affects the flexural strength and ductility So it can be said that the use of limestone powder as a substitute for cement in this concrete is justifiedKeywords ultra high performance concrete micro silica zeolite limestone powder synthetic and mineral fibers mechanical properties
