Abstract In order to remove impurities such as starch from the surface of cotton fabrics and preparing forthe next steps an enzyme desizing processes is used Although the process is environmentallyfriendly the enzyme has problems with limitations such as limited life span high sensitivity tooperating conditions such as pH and metallic ions and in addition amylase enzymes arecompletely Imported Therefore the project attempts to study the use of atmospheric plasma toeliminate or reduce the consumption of these enzymes Despite widespread research on the use ofthis method for the desizing of cotton fabric little success has been achieved in desizing starch Because plasma operations etching and hydrophilic groups on the surface of starch provided alarge amount of starch has penetrated into the depth of the yarn and it is difficult to remove theremaining starch by the plasma atmospheric pressure One of the problems of DBD plasma invarious processes is the production of gases such as ozone that has high oxidising properties andat high concentrations it causes environmental problems But for the first time the ozoneproduction gas used as a threat was used to improve the desizing efficiency of the cotton product Therefore in this project tried to use a combination of plasma and ozonation operations in thefield of desizing of cotton fabrics containing starch which in addition to high efficiency andshortening of desizing time the physical damage of fabric to the minimum possible amount Reach Therefore the project was divided into three main sections In the first section the best operatingconditions for ozone desizing were investigated In the second part the effect of plasma operationtime on the desizing efficiency of the fabric was investigated and in the third section theintegration of DBD plasma and ozonation was studied The evaluation of the quality of desizingand changes in fabric properties were examined using tests such as weight loss percentage tegvagrade whiteness and yellowness degree strength changes in two directions of warp and weft SEMand FTIR ATR The results of the first step indicate that the ozonation of the padded fabric withwater and detergent pick up 60 for 60 minutes in addition to obtaining desirable desizing creates a favorable whiteness 59 At this stage it was determined that the amount of moistureand water along with the fabric has a significant effect on the intensity of ozone on the fabric sothat the sample is padded with water and detergent with at about 40 pick up which is carried outfor 20 minutes under the ozonation operation Tagwa 8 and whiteness index 5 56 The second stage experiments indicate a direct correlation between the time of plasma irradiation and theamount of size taken but little has changed in the whiteness of the product Also the mechanicalproperties of the fabric have been reduced by an impressive time of more than 10 minutes Therefore it attempts to use plasma radiation as a pretreatment for ozonation The results of thissection indicate that with 5 minutes of plasma irradiation and 10 minutes of ozonation not onlydesizing will be done and the grade of the tagwa will reach 8 but the whiteness 54 1 and thepercentage of strength reduction will be acceptable Finally with the optimization of this combinedprocess it seems to be possible to change the stages of the initial completion of the cotton productand reduce its stages Keywords Plasma Ozone Desizing Starch Cotton
