A Trust Model for the Social Internet of Things network Bahare Farahbakhsh 2018 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisor Dr Ali Fanian Advisor Dr Mohammad Hossein ManshaeiAbstract Today one of the most important challenges encountered by researchers in Internet of Things subject is how to organizea large number of devices in this environment The organization should be in a manner that the objects can effectivelyperform the service discovery process Recent efforts led to emerge of a new paradigm known as Social Internet of thingor briefly SIoT model According to this model objects will be able to reach their goals efficiently through the conceptincluding creating friendships and navigating in a social network of friends On the other hand the service discovery timewill be prolonged according to the increase the number of objects the distribution of objects throughout the network thelocal and limited knowledge of the objects about their neighbors and the inefficiency to the response to a special request bythe objects Therefore we propose service based grouping The goal of adopting this approach is to increase the efficiencyof service discovery process within the paradigm of SIoT Due to the open environment of SIoT each object can freely get inand get out in the network Therefore in such a dynamic and distributed environment each object can share any serviceor information to the other ones Consequently the interaction with these unknown objects without any restriction andcontrol mechanism confronts us with security challenges including free riding problem and selfish behavioral Accordingto these challenges we propose a trust framework for SIoT based on reward and punishment mechanism In the proposedtrust model the trust degree is calculated from two aspects of service reliability and feedback effectiveness to get moreaccurate results Also in social network the centrality measurements provide peculiar information to identify importantand effective objects Therefore the HITS centrality measurement is used Traditionally a network system is modeled as asingle layer network using ordinary graphs which may lead to the incorrect interpretation and representation of the networks In this regard the relationships between system components are implemented in different layers SIoT is one of the obviousexamples of a multilayer network system in which the relationships between the members may occurs within a group alayer or in some cases between different layers Therefore we have profited the framework of multilayer networks in theproposed model To evaluate the proposed trust model the CRAWARD dataset is used and the objects in the dataset arecategorized into five types The simulation results show that the proposed trust model has a good performance Also thefree riding problem can be resolved effectively through adding the proposed punishment mechanism Moreover the resultsshow that the HITS centrality measurement has suitable performance in the proposed trust model Key Words Social Internet of Things Trust Free Riding Multi layer Networks Centrality Mea surement HITS
