115 Chitosan tragacanth and hematite for insulin and budesonide delivery and application of sulfonated graphene oxide and magnetic carbon fiber for pollutant removal Mahtab Pirveysian Mahtab pirveysian@gmail com Sep 2018 Department of Chemistry Isfahan University of Technology 84156 83111 Isfahan Iran Supervisor Prof Mehran Ghiaci mghiaci@cc iut ac ir mehranghiaci@gmail com Advisor Prof Hossein Farrokhpour farrokhphossein@gmail com farrokh@cc iut ac ir Department graduate program coordinator Dr Mohammad Dinari Isfahan University of Technology 84156 83111 Isfahan IranAbstractThis research consists of four experimental sections Part one includes the synthesis of sulfonated grapheneoxide with SiO2 and TiO2 coating used for the effective removal of Ni Cd Pb and Zn ions These adsorbentswere characterized by the FTIR TGA BET XRD XPS and CHNS techniques The second part of thisthesis is focused on the preparation of the MACFF magnetically activated carbon fiber felt an adsorbentdesigned for the removal of cephalexin and amoxicillin The interactions of antibiotic with the surface ofMACFF was also studied by the XPS XPS data fit very well with the tendency of antibiotics with MACFFas an adsorbent This adsorbent was characterized by the FTIR BET XRD XPS RAMAN as well asmagnetization test The third part is about the synthesis of the hematite coated with TiO2 applicable to thestudy of budesonide release Budesonide is a drug suitable for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease FTIR BET XRD TGA and magnetization test were applied for this medicinal composite The fourth part isabout the synthesizing chitosan WST composite designed for the oral delivery of insulin It is a matter ofgreat interest to design an oral delivery system for insulin to replace the harsh injection method used for thedelivery of insulin as an effective medication for the delivery of insulin The structure of chitosan WSTcomposite was studied by the FTIR FESEM BET Swelling test and erosion test Fluorescence bioimagingwas used to analyze the degradation behavior of chitosan WST composite inside the mouse body Elisa testwas also conducted to calculate the amount of insulin loaded on the chitosan WST composite Keywords Insulin oral delivery a magnetic drug carrier sulfonated graphene oxide heavy metals magneticallyactivated carbon fiber felt
