Control Design for Achieving SpecialPerformances in Switched Positive Systems with Time Varying Delay Mahsa Ghavami m ghavami@ec iut ac ir December 31 2018 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisor Prof Farid Sheikholeslam sheikh@cc iut ac ir Assoc Prof Jafar Ghaisari ghaisari@cc iut ac ir Abstract Switched systems are a class of hybrid dynamics consisting of a family of subsystems and a rule orchestrating switchingbetween them For improving transient response and decreasing disturbance effects on system outputs imposing perfor mances are needed which stability is the least requirement for analysing the performances In addition delay can lead toinstability and even poor performance of a switched system Switched delay systems have powerful engineering back ground in water qualify and networked control systems In this thesis for imposing special performances stability ofswitched systems has been investigated in two arbitrary and constrained switching cases Special performances such as general quadratic constraints and bounded peak to peak gain have got less attention inthe contex of switched systems General quadratic constraints are limitations modeled as a quadratic matrix making arelationship between exogeneous inputs and output signals Performances such as H and strict passive constraints canbe modeled in this way Moreover bounded peak to peak gain could be useful to decrease the effect of disturbances onoutputs for which less limiting conditions on inputs are needed than H2 and generalised H2 performances The problem ofbounding outputs peak amplitude for bounded disturbance inputs is called bounded peak to peak gain This performancecould be useful to decrease noise effects on system outputs in wireless networked systems The importance of linear switched positive systems have been highlighted because of their extensive applications suchas communication network and biological systems In positive systems states and outputs vectors remain nonnegativewhenever initial states and inputs vectors are nonnegative An important point about switched positive delay systems isthat the closed loop model must be positive This thesis investigates general quadratic and bounded peak to peak gain performances for discrete time linear switchedsystems with time varying delays such that the closed loop switched system is globally uniform exponential stable and pos itive for arbitrary switching signals and switching signals with ADT greater than a positive certain constant By Lyapanov Krasovskii functional theorem sufficient conditions are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities For illustratingthe effect of these results the quadruple tank system model is employed Key Words Switched Delay System Positive System General Quadratic Constraint Bounded Peakto Peak Gain Arbitrary Switching Signal Constrained Switching Signal Linear Matrix Inequality
