129 The use of modified graphene structures with polyoxometalatenanostructures and metal organic framework for modification of electrode surface and use in fuel cells and supercapacitors Elahe Heydari Soureshjani Email address elahe heydari@ch iut ac ir May 2019 Department of chemistry Isfahan university of technology 84156 83111 Isfahan IranSupervisor Prof Ali A Ensafi Email address ensafi@cc iut ac irAdvisor Prof Behzad Rezaei Email address rezaei@cc iut ac irDepartment Graduate Program Coordinator Assist Prof M Dinari Department of Chemistry Isfahan university of technology 84156 83111 Isfahan Iran Tel 98 31 33912350 Fax 98 31 33912350Abstract In the first study a new form of PW11MO39 5 @Ru reduced graphene oxides rGO M Co Ni and Cu were prepared by deposition of PW11MO39 5 on the surface of Ru rGO The different behaviours of the polyoxometalates POM in acidic and alkaline media werestudied for hydrogen evolution reaction HER Various characteristic techniques were usedfor characterization of the nanocomposites The electrocatalytic properties of thenanocomposites toward HER were studied by voltammetry and electrochemical impedancespectroscopy The kinetic parameters were computed from the Tafel plots and the possiblemechanisms of the HER were considered The results showed that the HER on PW11MO39 5 @Ru rGO electrodes obeyed Volmer Heyrovsky mechanism It was takenthat the enhancements in the rate of the HER on the modified electrodes may be associatedwith the presence of the nanoparticles of POM on the electrode surface and enhancement ofthe surface area These results demonstrated that the nanocomposites could be effective HERcatalysts in acidic and alkaline media with considering green chemistry These good catalyticcapacities durability favorable kinetics and low price Also the behavior of theelectrocatalysts with respect to supercapacitor application and oxygen reduction reaction ORR were investigated in acetic acid solution pH 4 8 and alkaline media respectivelyusing voltammetry galvanostatic charge discharge and chronoamperometry methods Results showed that the PW11MO39 5 @Ru rGO M Co Ni and Cu electrodes towardssupercapacitor application have a high specific capacitance 705 624 and 568 F g 1 for Cu Co and Ni respectively highest energy density of 99 05 relating to power density of 294 93 highest power density of 2400 corresponding to energy density of 28 13 and long life
