Abstract e syn ronization is the adaptation in the motion of the self sustained oscillators whi is causedby the weak interaction between the components of the system is feature has been found in manynatural and biological systems and has led scientists to describe how it works Despite the many mod els presented to describe syn rony the Kuramoto model is a simple mathematical yet practical modelderived from the generalization of the relationships of two coupled oscillators Although the rst orderKuramoto model is a good approa for describing syn ronization in many natural phenomena How ever providing a model with phase mat ing and oscillator frequency simultaneously as well as inertiain the system helped to describe some natural models be er and provide a good generalization for theKuramoto model is model is in fact an extension of the rst order Kuramoto model whi we ex amine here dynamically Another important issue that is not considered because of the simpli cation ofthe problem in the Kuramoto model is the time lag between system components whi we know fromexperiments that this parameter can somehow in uence the syn ronization of the components Here we have a empted to investigate the performance of the system by using a second order Kuramotomodel and applying a time delay for two coupled oscillators and to compare the number of completesyn ronous responses in both the rst order and second order models in the presence of a time delay Key words Syn ronization Koramoto model coupled oscillators time delay
