Optimization of Capacity in Mixed ADC Spatially Correlated Massive MIMO چکیذ ا گلیسی Atiyeh Mosayebi a mosayebi@ec iut ac ir May 2019 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisor Dr Ehsan Yazdian yazdian@cc iut ac ir Abstract Massive MIMO systems have a special importance among suggested technologies forphysical layer of 5G cellular communications which achieves various advantagesemploying a large number of antennas However in case of real implementation the largenumber of antennas causes high hardware and energy costs and makes the implementationvery difficult Thus a solution is necessary for reducing costs and energy consumption One of the features of Massive MIMO systems is robustness to hardware impairments sorecently it has been proposed to reduce the resolution of ADCs in RF chains to decreasecosts and hardware complexity Especially a mix of ADCs with different bit widths fordifferent antennas can achieve higher energy efficiency and better performance comparedto other solutions such as totally one bit sampling In this thesis after a brief introduction ofMassive MIMO previous works on architectures consist of a mix of ADCs with differentbit widths or Mixed ADC has been reviewed Then two level and multi level Mixed ADCarchitectures have been modeled in a spatially correlated system with a switch betweenantennas and ADCs and capacity of each model has been derived Based on derivedrelations optimization problems for allocating ADCs to antennas in Mixed ADCarchitecture has been formulated Different solutions have been proposed to deal withproblems Finally using simulation the results of proposed methods has been comparedwith conventional methods and the significant effectiveness of proposed optimizations hasbeen shown Key words Massive MIMO Analog to Digital Convertor Mixed ADC Spatial correlation Optimization
