Predictive Control of Surface Type Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors Using Continuous Control Set in Flux Weakening Region Iman Shariati Vaziri i shariati@ec iut ac ir Date of Submission 2019 7 3 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Sayed Morteza Saghaian Nezhad saghaian@cc iut ac irAbstract Nowadays PMSM machines are widely used in different applications Applications in which the wide oper ational speed range is necessary such as HEVs and some other industrial usages flux weakening based controlalgorithms must be utilized On the other hand using simple PI controllers due to their slow dynamic response does not guarantee a reliable operation Therefore having a fast dynamic response in such systems is of greatimportance In order to overcome this problem using Predictive Control algorithms leads to a faster dynamicresponse in such systems Among the different Predictive Control structures utilizing the continuous controlset structure makes the system have the fastest possible dynamic response Moreover it lowers the fluctuationsin the control variables Utilization of such control scheme in driving of electrical motors due to the existenceof non linear uncertainties such as dead time in the converter controlling the motor and inevitable delays dueto the processing time addition of the compensation algorithms to the control scheme is indispensable In addi tion operation in whole range of speed requires current reference extraction procedure according to the differentcircumstances such as speed maximum allowable voltage and parameters of motor Among all the methodsfor producing reference current proposing a method capable of having an acceptable dynamic response whileconsidering all of the system s conditions will lead to a superior operation In this dissertation in order to accelerate the dynamic response of the current loop a continuous control setpredictive control is utilized Considering all the eigenvalues of the system all of the compensation methodsare extensively discussed After that based on the dynamic model of the SPMSM the reference currents fordifferent operational regions are extracted Using this method accelerates the dynamic response of the motor inall of the operational regions Additionally overmodulation region of converter is considered for full utilizingdc link voltage and extending speed range of operation In addition using algorithms for entering into over modulation in the flux weakening region is another important criterion for enhancing the motor s operability inthe flux weakening region Finally the proposed method in this thesis is evaluated by simulation and practical implementation A DSP namely TMS320F28335 is adopted for implementation of proposed method Keywords Permanent magnet synchronous motor Model base control Predictive control flux weakeningregion
