AbstractCarbon dioxide production and consumption of natural resources is the biggest environmentalproblem in the Portland cement production One of the most effective ways to reduceenvironmental pollution is replacing the Portland cement with secondary and by products of theindustry such as the blast furnace slag Due to the high percentage of calcium in the slag thismaterial can be used as a cementitious material The aim of this study was to prepare cementslurry with new formulation using slag and alkalin solution in the cementing operation of oil andgas wells A lot of laboratory research needs to be done before alkali activated slag cement isused in the oil and gas wells cementing In particular according to research this type of cementhas the potential to reduce the problems caused by the use of oil well cements including thereduction of compressive strength at high temperatures Therefore this study investigated invitro samples of the alkali activated slag cement based on the American Petroleum Institutestandard Short setting time and poor thickening time of the alkali activated slag cement at hightemperature and pressure is one of the major challenges in the use of this type of cement indrilling industry For this purpose at first two part alkali activated slag cement and powderalkali activated slag cement with two different blaines were investigated to allow the cementslurry setting time and its compressive strength Other activities to increase the setting time ofthe alkali activated slag cement slurry include the use of borax gypsum and lime in thecomposition of alkali activated slag cement Due to the industrial and practical use of alkali activated slag cement powder alkali activated slag cement was selected based on which alkali activated slag cement was suitable for cementing oil and gas wells that consonance with theadditives of the drilling industry The behavior and mechanical properties of the alkali activatedslag designed with carbon nanotube were investigated One of the othor purpose of this studywas to investigate the mechanical and rheological behavior of light and super light slag alkalicement slurry At the end all the results obtained from slag activated alkali cement designed inthis study are in accordance with the permitted standards and can be an alternative to oil and gascement in comparison with Portland Cement Keywords Alkali activated slag cement Oil well cement API Cementing
