72IUT 77142Degree Master of ScienceTitle Construction of Magnetic Flow Meter for Measuring Volumetric Discharge of Phasesin Multiphase FlowsAuthor Masih ZamaniSupervisers A Khazali M Haghshenas fardDepartment Chemical EngineeringDate September 18 2019Language PersianAbstractMeasurement of discharge and volume component of multiphase fluids is very important in differentindustries Multiphase fluid flow measurement is currently being performed with equipment andmethods most of which are commonly used in specific conditions and in fluids with specificcharacteristics and are also associated with errors in the conditions used Measurement of currentand volume fraction by electromagnetic method and mutual induction as it does not requireseparation of phases and non direct contact with the fluid sensor can be a great method for measuringflow characteristics for different materials with different conditions and requirements Applying theproposed method in addition to the aforementioned advantages in ease of speed measurement andreproducibility it is possible to develop and detect flow patterns for different fluids In this study acurrent loop was designed to generate different multiphase flows and the proposed sensor responsewas recorded under different conditions by the current loop The method of construction and theresults and suggestions for the development of this type of sensor are presented in this thesis According to experiments generally the magnetic permeability of the mixture increases withincreasing percentage of water in the colloidal mixture and the induced voltage in the secondary coilincreases In this study different mixtures of phases were placed for testing between two coils andthe induced induction voltage was recorded To test the induction rate two devices were designedfor testing one being a current loop and the other a jar test device In the current loop the ratio ofthe different phases with different regimes can be established and the signal is examineddynamically the inductive voltage is measured statically in the secondary winding device In general the proposed method can be used to measure the volume of water in the mixture between two coilspaces The voltage induced in the secondary coil is recorded statically by the voltmeter or board andin the dynamic mode by the board and sampled at specified intervals In the measurements taken thevoltage induced in the secondary coil for the oil phase did not differ from the air but for the water the induction voltage was higher than for the air Induction voltage for distilled water municipalwater and saturated brine were not significantly different in induction voltage Keywords Multiphase Fluids Electromagnetic mutual Induction Flow meter Flow loop FlowMeasurement Phase Volume
