92 Dust sources identification in the south of Kerman Province using satellite products Hakimeh Sanati Sanati h@na iut ac ir September 21 2019 Department of Natural Resources Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree MSc Language PersianDr Reza Jafari Reza jafari@cc iut ac irAbstractDust is one of the most common meteorological phenomena and one of the biggest atmosphericenvironmental problems in arid and semi arid regions causing severe damage to various partsyearly Since Iran is located in the arid and semi arid region of the world it is strongly affected bydust storms The southern areas of Kerman province are also frequently affected by dust pollutionand its destructive impacts which necessitates further studies to identify dust storm sources So thepurpose of this research was to find out the origin of dust storms in southern Kerman province usingremote sensing satellite data Therefore LST NDVI and TVDI indices combined with slope soiltexture and rainfall maps have been used to determine the dust sources using ENVI and ArcGISsoftware The remote sensing data used in this study were MODIS sensor images GPM Satelliteproducts and PERSIANN data The LST NDVI TVDI indices were obtained from the Teraplatform from 9 May to 8 October 2016 The data used for the GPM and PERSIANN indices werefrom May 1 to October 31 2016 After receiving and pre processing the data the above indices wereextracted and a map of each index was obtained Then the Akerman TDI and Miller dust algorithms
