94 Assessment of urban vulnerability to climate change in Isfahan city Roya Mansouri royamansouri72@gmail com 31 August 2019 Department of Natural Resources Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree MSc Language PersionDr Ali Lotfi lotfi@cc iut ac irAbstract Urban areas have unique characteristics that residents and their property are vulnerable toclimate change Although extensive studies have been done on climate change over the past fewdecades the importance of the effects of climate change on urban areas has recently been highlighted One of the important and significant aspects of development planning is the emphasis and attentionto the vulnerability of the country and most importantly the vulnerability of cities to the threats many economic and social facilities and facilities climate change requires more attention becauseof the many casualties and financial losses In this research the evaluation and assessment of the vulnerability of Isfahan city to climate changewas carried out in three components of adaptation exposure and sensitivity Four indicators ofpopulation density of residential areas impervious areas urban texture water supply methods length Surface water medical and sanitary services green space literacy rate rainfall intensity temperature wind relative humidity contamination through resource review and Delphi methodwere selected Then the values for each of the indicators were normalized using the minimum high frequency method and were in the range between zero and one In the next step using experts opinionand AHP questionnaire and Expert choice software weighted After weighing the indices by software such as the compatibility rate provided by the software was less than 0 1 it was ensured that thecomparisons were made There is compatibility To combine indices and components the composite index was used In the exposed area due to thelack of data and plainity of the city of Isfahan and no significant change in the climate data for thiscomponent 2 the index of statistical temperature index and wind chill calculated Initially theindicators were combined with the linear weighting method and then the resilience of the componentsof sensitivity adaptability and exposure were also combined with the combined method Finally thefinal composite index was used to determine the vulnerability of the city of Isfahan to climate changein terms of each The region showed the results of the final combination index of regions 14 and 10of the highest vulnerability to climate change and the region of the 13th region There arevulnerabilities to climate change Other regions are also vulnerable to moderately vulnerable toclimate change Key Words Vulnerability Assessment AHP Delphi Method Combined Index Index IndexIndex Wind Chill Index Fifteen Zone of Isfahan City
