Directional Spherical Transmitter Performance Analysis in Molecular Communication Zahra Kabiri zahra kabiri@ec iut ac ir September 8 2019 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisor Dr Naghmeh sadat moayedian moayedian@cc iut ac ir Abstract In recent years considerable research has been done on the best way to facilitate communicationsbetween nanoscale devices One of these methods is molecular communication which aims to useexisting biological systems to create nanoscale networks Due to the nature of molecular signals the classical communications models cannot be used directly in the context of molecularcommunications systems So it needs to come up with new models that are close to reality One ofthe important components in molecular communication systems is the transmitter since it effects onmolecules propagation In molecular communications systems the transmitter is often considered a point source But in reality there is no point transmitter One of the recently proposed models is aspherical transmitter with a diffusion point on its surface In this thesis a spherical transmitter with several propagation points is proposed and investigated To study transmitter and compare it withthe point transmitter the received signal pattern peak time signal to interference ratio half powerpattern width orientation gain and bit error rate were evaluated The results show that the proposed transmitter performs better than the point transmitter For example the proposed transmitter has alower bit error rate than the point transmitter and the received signal pattern has a better orientation The simulations also show that the density of the emission points has no significant effect on the transmitter performance Key Words Nanomachines Molecular Communication Point Transmitter Spherical Transmitter
