Preparation and investigation of structural dielectric magnetic and magnetoelectric properties of Pb Fe0 5Nb0 5 O3 PbTiO3 CoFe2 xZnxO4 Mohammad Torabi Shahbaz mohammad torabi@ph iut ac ir January 8 2020 Department of Physics Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran University Code IUT 77142 Degree M Sc Language Farsi supervisor Dr Hossein Ahmadvand ahmadvand@iut ac ir AbstractMultiferroics are a class of materials that have at least two ferroic orders ferroelectric mag netic and elastic Magnetoelectric ME materials are a subset of multiferroics in whichferroelectric and magnetic orders are coupled ME materials are classified into single phaseand composite groups in which composites show higher ME coupling value than single phaseones ME coupling coefficient depends on the magnetostriction behavior of magnetic phase In this thesis solid solution of lead iron niobate and lead titanate PbFe0 5 Nb0 5 O3 PbTiO3 as ferroelectric phase and Zn substituted cobalt ferrite as magnetic phase were used Composites samples of 0 94PbFe0 5 Nb0 5 O3 0 06PbTiO3 and CoFe2 x Znx O4 x 0 0 025 0 1 0 2 0 3 containing 60 Wt of ferroelectric and 40 Wt ferrite were prepared X raydiffraction XRD and field emission scanning electron microscopy FE SEM were done onall of the samples Dielectric constant and ferroelectric hysteresis loop were measured for allof the samples Magnetic hysteresis loop was measured by a vibrating sample magnetometer VSM ME coupling coefficient was measured for all of the composite samples by lock in mVamplifier technique Highest ME coefficient value of 12 33 was obtained for x 0 1 at cm Oethe magnetic field of 755 Oe Results revealed that the magnetic field at which the maximumvalue of ME coefficient was observed Hpeak strongly depends on the value of Zn substi tution The results were interpreted using the magnetic field dependence of magnetostriction Keywords Multiferroics materials Magnetoelectric materials Piezoelectric effect Magne tostriction effect
