Title Study of Concentration Method for Rubidium and Monazit Compound from Muoteh Gold Plant Tailing Damps Student s Full Name Manoochehr Mohammadi Email address Mmanoochehr@gmail com Date of Submission 2020Jan 25 Pardis colleg Metallurgy Engineering Group Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisor s Name Dr Mehdi Alizadeh Email address alizadeh@cc iut ac irAbstract Considering the presence of gold and other precious metals in the waste of gold production plants throughhydrometallurgy as well as the high volume of tailings resulting from the production process studying thefeasibility of recycling rare earth and rubidium elements from tailings is of environmental and economicimportance In this regard according to mineralogical studies and preliminary analyzes due to the low gradeof rare earths monazite was identified as one of the minerals containing rare earth elements and rubidium asa light and very valuable metal beside gold in salt form And relatively coarse carbon particles arephysically condensable Initially the reagent was first sampled by trench digging in the tailings dam thendivided into smaller sections at different stages of the sample and finally one sample was separated toidentify and perform condensation tests First identification tests AAS ICPMS XRD SEM EDS and etc were performed that showed the main phase The sample contains silica chlorite muscovite gypsum orthoclase dolomite and pyrite respectively The specimen of tailing dam analysis showed that it contains0 55 g ton of gold about 90 g ton total rare earth elements 102 g ton of rubidium Sum of rare earthelements on the specimen representing the tailings dam of Mouteh Gold Complex the proposed condensationmethod according to Ray Seed Tailings Grading Using magnetic separation and finally reverse gravitymethod light material separation resulted in simultaneous concentration of gold monazite and rubidium inthe tailings dam allowing the use of tailings materials These tests determined magnetic and gravimetricgrains which together with the concentration of gold the sum of rare earth elements with the concentrationof monazite reached 732 g t 7 times the initial value and rubidium reached 163 g t while mass Theproduct reached about 10 of the raw material in all the aggregates In grading and gravity condensation thetotal amount of rare earth elements in the light material reached less than about 90 grams per ton of rawmaterial to 1151 grams per ton and the amount of rubidium reached 316 grams per ton Therefore according to these theses by fully understanding the properties of said tailings materials and theirenvironmental importance without damaging the gold recovery process of the old dam and without the useof chemicals we found that the rare earth elements were more than 10 times higher and rubidium grade 3times higher Has been These results will allow recycling of these elements after sufficient concentration andattractiveness to investigate the possibility of producing these elements from mine tailings Keywords Gold Tailings Dam Rubidium Monazite Concenteration
