ABSTRACT The development of new steel powders and processesduring the last decadeshas lead to a considerably increase of the applications for P M structural parts by reason of materials and cost saving and high perfonnance product and better dimensional tolerances Some of these applications in automotive industry are seat guide gear piston and connecting rods Green compact after compacting operation although it has acceptable density but obviously needed strength will be obtain after sintering operation In this regard this study emphasizes the influence of manufacturing parameters such as sintering time and temperature and chemical composition on the mechanical properties and microstructures of nickel alloyed P M steels In order to investigation the effect of additional nickel different amounts ofNi with graphite and lubricant was added to base iron powder water atomized WPL200 that partially diffused with Mo and Cu Mi ed powders after compaction were sintered at two temperature 1120 and 1250 C and two times 30 and 60 min in controlled atmosphere The average green density of specimens was about 6 8 i 0 05 g cm3 According to the change of time and temperature the degree of uniformity and diffusion of nickel in base powder and morphology of porosity with light and electron microscope and image tool were investigated In this project the mechanical properties such as ultimate tensile strength elongation and hardness and homogenization in research samples have been investigated d I u lifl V l J I f
