Abstract This work is devoted to the investigation of zinc and molybdate effects on phosphonatesinhibition in order to improve their efficiencies at first three various kinds of phosphonateinhibitors AMP PPC HEDP were used along with phosphate and polyphosphate thedependence of each inhibitors on water hardness and corrosivity was determined by usingdifferent water with conductivities of 3000 5000 6000 s cm the effect of polymers onphosphonatesinhibition is also investigated by using three different polymers the tests weredone in three different pH of 7 5 8 and 8 5 The effects of zinc and molybdate is investigated by mixing them with the above inhibitorsin different concentration and the inhibition efficiencies of these made inhibitors weremeasured in different water and pHs which was mentioned above the results were in goodagreements with two commercial inhibitors named as Nalco and Betz Three different kinds of azoles were also used with the above produced inhibitors to produceeffective inhibitors for copper and brass The results indicated that different inhibitor efficiencies could be obtained relative to thekinds of phosphonate pH and water conductivity the polymers have effect on efficiency theseeffects depend on the kinds of polymer as well as the conductivity of water addition ofzinc and molybdate improved the inhibition properties of phosphonates the amount of thisimprovement depends on the kinds of phosphonate pH and the concentration of zinc andmolybdate using of azole inhibitors with compound inhibitors decreasethe corrosion rate ofCu and brass in the water Here the amount of protection depends on the kinds of azoleinhibitor and the type of compound inhibitor I b 1 C l j I
