rJ ffjJf c C c c c c 8 AbstractPhosphorus is one of the essential elements and a key nutrient in agriculture There arelittle studies on phosphorus chemical fractions in calcareous soils being receivedchemical fertilizer and organic amendments The aims of this study were to investigatethe fractionation of phosphorus in a calcareous soil treated with chemical fertilizer andorganic amendments effects of the amount and the number of application years offertilizers and organic amendments on soil P transformation relationships betweensome soil chemical properties and different forms of phosphorus and relationshipsbetween soil P fractions and wheat yield and P uptake Wheat samples were taken fromcentral part of 3x3 m plots which received sewage sludge cow manure and municipalwaste compost in two levels of 50 and 100 ton ha and a chemical fertilizer treatment at arate of 250 kg ha as urea plus 250 kg ha ammonium phosphate for one three and fiveyears Control plot which received no fertilizer and organic amendments was alsoincluded All treatments were applied in three replicates Composed soil samples weretaken from depth of 0 30 cm of the plots and analyzed for total inorganic and orgmllcP The inorganic P fractions were sequentially extracted and measured as dicalciumphosphate Ca2 P octacalcium phosphate Cas P aluminum phosphate Al P ironphosphate Fe P occluded P in iron and aluminum oxides O P and apatite CalO P The organic p forms were also determined as labile moderately labile moderatelyresistant and non labile Some soil chemical characteristics such as pH Electrical Conductivity EC Calcium Carbonate Equivalent CCE organic matter and CationExchange Capacity CEC were determined and their correlations with different P formsstudied The total P in untreated and treated soils ranged from 983 7 to 1261 8 mg kgthat the highest values occurred in sewage sludge treatments The inorganic and organic P consisted 40 and 60 of total soil P respectively CalO P Fe P Ca2 P Cag P Al Pand O P formed 31 5 18 5 17 16 10 and 7 of inorganic P in soil samples respectively With increasing the amount and the years of fertilizer application inorganic P forms increased except apatite which decreased in cow manure andchemical fertilizer The labile moderately labile moderately resistant and non labileconsisted 1 8 41 2 34 and 23 of soil organic P respectively With increasingthe amount and the years of fertilizer application all organic P forms increased Amongdifferent inorganic P fractions Cas P Fe P and AI P shpwed highly negativerelationships with soil pH and calcium carbonate On the other hand Cas P Fe P andAI P showed highly positive relationships with CEC and soil organic matter content Allorganic P fractions showed a strong relationship with soil organic matter content Therewere significant positive relationships between Cas P Fe P Al P and all of organic P fractions and P uptake by wheat grain f v j 1i f
