Abstract Esfordi pho phate mine which is located at 35 kIlls north east of Bafgh city in Yazdprovince is considered as the most important phosphate ore producer mine in Iran Accordi ng to p evious studies the main re l liner al was supposed to be I luoroapatitetype WIth partIal replacement of chlorIde m dIfferent parts of deposIt The endcon l 1ffiptionof phosphate c nce ntrate i l Iran s f r producin agricultural ch mic alfertIlIze s and super pfio phorICacId U 8 d chemical m u try SI ce the phosphorICacId mproductIon techiiology IS very sensItIve to the chlorIde ImpurIty content hence themaximum permissible chloride content should not exceed the amount of 660 ppm whereasthere are some parts of deposit th t he chloride content reaches o 1610 PPl l In order to overcome such lImItatIons and supply the requIred ore It IS necessary touse an optimum exploitation scheme ca able of combining different ore blocks from different parts of deposit Lack of chlorIde assaying data among exploratory drill hole exploratory data resulted in designing new samplIng strategy for analyzing chloride content chemically As these extra exploratory costs was not predicted at the beginning of this project therefore it was decided to limit the number of samples to 106 increments tak n from 8 chived drilled core samples spanning both depth and phosphate variations in entIre deposIt 0 The preliminary statistical analysis revealed that there is a low correlation betweenthe 0chlorIde and phosphate grades leading to the conclusion that it is impossible to carry out co Kriging estimating technique The existing partial correlation between chloride content and some other variables led us to apply the neural network estimation technique which is a means of exploring such hidden non linear relationships among differentvariables Using such chloride estimates from neural network output the 3 D blockkrigging approach was adopted for both chloride and phosphate inside the final optimumpit layout A selective mining procedure was developed whIch aimed at achieving a run ofmine material required by mineral processing plant with minimum possible chloridecontent In order to achieve such goals it was necessary to apply the linear programmingoptimization technique for planning optimum combination of extracted ore from differentparts of deposit According to the mineral processing plant capacity and mine able reserveaown to tlie 1635 horizon and the annual production plan of 360000 tones the mine lifewas estimated at 40 years The optimum plan was developed based on current surfacetopography and he latest open pit mine situation The short term pro ductionplanni 1g ofthree month peflod for ore extractIon and waste removal was determIned which satIsfiesthe predetermined break even W O stripping ratio of 1 2 1 For each short term period theaverage phosphate and chloride contents were estimated and given in separatetables Alsothe contour d 3 d urfa ceplo of mine topography after each extraction period weremapped and Included m this thesIs report ej 11 o V Ilf I 7 V l I J l1
