Abstract In 1986 Vera Pless introduced a simple decoding algorithm for the twoextended Goley codes In 2000 this algorithm called representation method was applied to decoding the R 2 5 Reed Muller code Later a variation ofthis method know as syndrome decoding was used for decoding some 32 16 8 self dual codes Both methods project binary codes onto quaternarycodes Analysis of these algorithms is the subject of this thesis A slightlymodified version of these algorithms with lower decoding complexity is given Ca of length 2A family of binary codes denoted and d 8 is introduced n 2 nThese codes are decoded by syndrome decoding method
