Abstract Composite coatings constitute a new class of materials which are mostly used formechanical and tribological applications Among these materials Ni P deposition withincorporation of solid lubricant particles such as polytetrafluoroethylene PTFE combineanti corrosion and wear resistance properties due to the presence of nickel withmechanical and tribological performance due to the presence of particles of PTFE In thisresearch PTFE was coated on the specimen surface using spray method or PTFE brushingmethod and then for producing EN PTFE composite the specimen will be hold incommercial Ni P electroless bath Techniques such as SEM EDAX optical microscopyand micro hardness testing were employed to investigate the effects of some factors suchas thickness deposition rate and coating method of PTFE on the surface Tribologicalproperties were assessed using pin on disk test wear and coefficient of friction Resultsshow that although it is not possible to provide a composite coating with a uniformdistribution of PTFE some properties of EN PTFE composite coatings produced bysuspension method can be expected from these coatings Also it was seen that the frictioncoefficient of the electroless Ni P PTFE composite brush coated steels were decreased incomparing with the Ni P coated steel up significant value
