AbstractDue to the wide distribution of arid and semi arid area their soils has effected bynumerous limitations One of the most important limitation of these soils are theirhigh salinity Therefore the most of plant cannot grow at these kind of soils Atriplexlentifromis is a halophite range plant that the pruning of Atriplex increase thebiomass According to the accumulation of salts is in Atriplex aerial organs so byincluding the residual plant from the region it assumes that salinity will be reduced inthe soil In studies to investigate the effect of different intensites of Atriplexlentifromis pruning on salinity changes of soil at Chah Afzal Ardekan An experiment performed in the split plot plan Some physical and chemicalcharacteristics of the under shadow of atriplex soil which has affected by differentdegree of pruning are measured region is divided to three blocks and three plantshave chosen and cutted from each block The soil were sampled at the fourdepths 0 30 30 60 60 90 90 120 Because of planting Atriplex on the river floors the first 20cm of bare soil surface and sampling was performed at four depths Totally 189 soil samples provided and salinity pH SP Ca Na Mg K Cl HCO3 solution osmotic potential soil salt percentage soudium absorption ratio exchangeable sodium and soluble salt percentage were measured Base on theresults it is1 Atriplex lentiformis can reduce soil salinity 2 soil salinity reduction reduction waseffective only to 60cm depth of the soil 3 The measured soil characteristics were notinfluenced significantly by different pruning treatment The results showed thatsoluble Na is more than CL contentration in Atriplex lentiformis leafs indicatingselective absorption of Na comparing Cl The maximum differences in measure soilproportion was observed between every pruning treatment and bare soil Based onthe results of the other researchers in this region showed the most biomass productionin annual pruning treatment and the results of this study it can be concluded thatannually pruning treatment is the best treatment in the Chah Afzal location
