AbstractIn this study nine irrigation systems including three surface three sprinkler and threetrickle irrigation systems belonging to Isfahan city s greenery were selected andevaluated The systems were selected based on suggestions and proposed methods inliterature The selected surface irrigation systems included forest fields located inIsfahan East Greenbelt the fields around the high slope Soffe mountain and individualnarrow surface irrigated areas around the Baghgoldasteh street The selected sprinklerirrigation systems include the Abshar park the Ghaemiyeh avenue and the Ghalamestanpark The selected trickle irrigation systems include the Bakhtiyardasht greenbelt theeast of Isfahan greenbelt phase 1 and another part of the east of Isfahan greenbelt phase 5 For each of the above irrigation systems the evaluation parameters werecomputed Results showed that for surface irrigation systems the average values ofapplication efficiency deep percolation tail water and water requirement efficiencywere 61 2 34 8 4 and 84 4 percent respectively For sprinkler irrigation systems theaverage values of Christiansen uniformity coefficient distribution uniformity of lowquarter actual application efficiency of low quarter and potential application efficiencyof low quarter were 72 4 65 5 43 1 and 59 9 percent respectively The average valuesof spray losses and deep percolation losses were 20 9 and 0 24 percent respectively Fortrickle irrigation systems the average values of Christiansen uniformity coefficient emission uniformity actual application efficiency of low quarter and potentialapplication efficiency of low quarter were 62 7 39 3 32 and 39 3 percent respectively In most of the above systems deficit irrigation was observed which was mainly due tolack of appropriate irrigation management Among the above systems the surfaceirrigation showed the best performance and the trickle irrigation showed the worst Thelow performances of sprinkler and trickle irrigation systems were mainly due to weekoperational management and not proper design of systems A better irrigationmanagement can improve the performance of these systems significantly
