Abstract Soft switching topologies are now one of the most viable solutions for increasingswitching frequency New soft switching topologies to both improve the converterefficiency and to reduce the EMI and device stresses In this thesis a new soft switchingcontrol scheme for auxiliary resonant commutated pole ARCP ZVT inverter is proposed In the proposed soft switching method instantaneous voltage feedbacks of inverterswitches are used in inverter control circuit to turn on main switches under ZVS condition Therefore in an inverter leg when a switch is turned off the other switch is triggered forturn on after a dead band and only if the voltage across it has reached zero The significantadvantages of this method are its simple structure and good performance in comparisonwith conventional ARCP ZVT inverter Also the need for current sensing to provide soft switching operation is eliminated The control signals of the auxiliary devices are pre defined and fixed during the design process In addition all the main and auxiliaryswitches are soft switched and the auxiliary circuit current level is adapted to the loadcurrent thereby minimizing the conduction losses The proposed strategy has betterefficiency and implementation of the control method is less costly than other strategies ofARCP ZVT inverter control The operating principle and design procedures are presentedin this thesis Simulation results verify the proposed converter operation analysis andcontrol method
