Abstract The petrophysical parameters of oil reeservoirs and their changing measures were so usefuland also had certain impacts on our knowledge about these reservoirs and consequentlyeconomical successes of exploration projects in oil industry Only in a few cases we canreduce the relevant risk to existing uncertainty associated with natural changes ofpetrophysical parameters which the spatial distribution of the reservoir parameters arespecified perfectly in full The studied reservoir in this thesis is one of the South Western oil field located near Ahvazcity in Khuzestan province The available information about this district contain porosityand permeability values measured in labratary with formation lithology in seven separatedzones some permeability values missing due to technical problems Because of erosion onshallow pay zones some of the zones are not present at most sections therefore we haveused the complete data set available for only four zones In order to avaluate the possible presence of any spatial trend distributed among datadirectional experimental variogram were computed which resulted in determination of a 3 D geometrical anisotropy to be used for further and more accure geostatistical estimations A standard 3 D ordinary Kriging has been carried out in two stages using Gslib softwarefor estimating porosity in a block 3000 520 2 meters in dimention Also E typeestimation of porosity for comparing results between this method and ordinary Krigingwere performed because of the effective porosity that have random components it is betterto use E type estimation instead of Kriging to reduce the estimation variance Permeability have estimated with using new petrophysical correlations in similar oilreservoirs in the world with porosity values Having these two parameters and informationabout formation lithology the mean precent of Hydrocarbon saturation of the studiedreservoir was about 32 with estimated of 888 6 106 cubic meters of it s reserve Using conditional simulation of porosity with 30 realizations for each block an estimate ofuncertainty was computed and then this estimate were inputted into PEP function which isa simple multiplication of porosity estimation uncertainty and permeability in order tolocate the highly risked areas Finally the optimum location for complementary drillingswith associated sectional and planar maps were drawn accompanied by a few suggestionsfor reducing estimation errors and further detailed exploration
