Abstract Intelligent vision chips comprise a new generation of optical sensors In the structure ofthese chips a small processing element exists in conjunction with each photoreceptor which receives the image data The parallel structure of the interconnected processingelements and the photoreceptors reveal high speed image processing An interesting imageprocessing task which can be implemented in the vision chip is the object trackingalgorithm In this thesis a new structure is proposed to overcome the disadvantages of thepreviously designed sensors and make the object tracking process possible in real worldenvironments The chip is designed at the gate level and the processing is performed inanalog form The design has been tested for correct functionality using computersimulations
