134Abstract The concept of using fibers to improve the behavior of materials is not new The moderndevelopments of fiber reinforcement started in the early 1960s But it was noticed thatrelatively few published information concerning fiber modified asphalt is available Inmost studies the effect of fiber modification was secondary to the main purpose of thestudies So the mechanism of reinforcement and investigation of effective fiber parameterswere ignored and the writings reflect the result of fiber applications only The purpose ofthis paper is an investigation on the comparison of different textile modifiers in Hot MixAsphalt HMA and the analysis of their effects on Marshal Test results stability andflow and Specific Gravity The textile materials that were used in this study include recycled waste tire cords a typeof geo grid and four types of fibers nylon6 6 polyester polypropylene and glass Theexperiments showed that glass and polypropylene fibers could improve the stability ratherthan other fibers the flow showed fewer sensitive to the addition of fibers and specificgravity was correlated well to the stability For the comment of the outcomes two theorieswere applied fiber slippage and equivalent cross section At the end an Artificial NeuralNetwork ANN established on the records and the system could predict the effective fiberparameters on the output specifications of HMA as the theories
