AbstractErosion is one of the most important phenomena in desertification Whether thiserosion happens by wind or water soil not only becomes poor in the case of materialnutrition but also causes sediments in reservoirs and is a serious danger for humanlife In order to determine the effects of roots of two arid plant on reduction of soilerosion a pot study conducted in split plot on complete randomized design in IsfahanUniversity of Technology This study consisted of three treatment of waters as topwater mixed top water and wastewater 50 50 two plant types of Crassula andHaloxylon a selected soil from Isfahan Airport District with clay sandy loam texture three pressure forces of 0 2 0 6 and 1 Kg cm2 in order to determine of soil shearresistance with eight replications This study carried out with 144 plastic pots Theresults showed that in each three applied irrigations Crassula has more reduction insoil erosion than Haloxylon and causes to increase shear resistance soil cuttingresistance Whatever the amount of wastewater in applied water increased the amountof root mean root diameter its volume and total length had significantly increasedand this increase affected more Crassula than Haloxylon The treatment of Crassulairrigated with wastewater caused soil shear resistance of 0 22 Kg cm2 was the besttreatment for reducing soil erosion at the end of the growing season due to its highroot density and its woody roots The treatment of Haloxylon irrigated with top watercaused soil shear resistance of 0 13 Kg cm2 had the least effects on reduction of soilerosion as compared to other treatments at the end of the growing season
