AbstractThe aim of this dissertation project is to Determine dose of electron beam forrecycling of Polytetrafluoroethylene PTFE and Comparison of its Physico Mechanical properties Physical and mechanical properties Density Tensile strengthand Elogation at break were studied Several techniques Such as FourierTransform Infrared spectroscopy FTIR ThermoGravimetric Analysis TGA Differential Scanning Calorimetry DSC X ray Diffraction XRD and Electron SpinResonance spectroscopy ESR were applied to characterize the PTFE samples and tostudy the radiation effects on the crystal structure of the polymer PTFE was subjected up to 1000 KGy electron beam irradiation in air The irradiationdose up to 100 KGy showed an increase in the crystallinity degree of PTFE whichhas been observed and confirmed during the DSC and XRD measurements Theincrease in crystallinity was attributed to the scissions of chain in the amorphousregion Moreever the number average molecular weights were estimated from theheat of crystallization measured by DSC technique The results indicated that themolecular weight were decreased by increasing the heat of crystallization due toirradiation Mechanical Properties of Radiated and non irradiated PTFE wasinvestigated
