Diazinon residues in the Zayandehroud surface and groundwater Zohreh Nasri Nasrabadi z nasri@gmail com Feb 26 2008 Department of Water Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranJ Abedi Koupai Koupai@cc iut ac irKh Talebi A R Mamanpoush Department of Water Engineering College of Agriculture Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan Iran Department of Plant Protection College of Agriculture University of Tehran Karaj Iran Faculty Member of Esfahan Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center Isfahan IranAbstractThe existence of industrial centers and agricultural activities has a main role on surface andgroundwater resources pollution in Isfahan province The aim of this study was the possibilityof existence of diazinon in Zayandehroud river banks Samples of water were taken from 10sites from July 2006 to March 2007 Chemical properties of water were measured by thestandard methods Clean up and detection quantification of diazinon residue were measuredby Thin Layer Chromatography and High Performance Liquid Chromatography respectively The results showed that the quantity of most measured parameters in surface water wereincreased from upstream to downstream similarly from summer to winter The entrance ofSteel Melting Factory wastewater to Zayandehroud river caused the increasing of Na EC Cl and SO42 in river s water The N NO3 concentration of groundwater decreased from fall towinter and was higher than standard limitation 10 mg l Diazinon was not detected in noneof the Zayandehroud and drainages water samples Some of the chemical physical andbiological parameters are important and effective on pesticides residue in water samples Diazinon detected in groundwater sample In any case prevention of irregular use ofpesticides needs more attention to protect environment Key Words Water Pollution Zayandehroud Diazinon HPLC
