AbstractDifficulties involved to popular power resousrces are pollution and non portability of clear oneslike geothermal wind and nuclear power However fuel cell are named future soldier becauseof their high performance and cleaness and portability These fuel cells generate needed electricpower by combining oxygen and hydrogen and converting them to water Since solide oxide fuelcell don t need to catalysor and also working in high temperature their has a low rate of 85percent more over they have very good resistance against acid gases or monoxide carbon and donot fail in such enviromental One of the main difficulties of the SOFCs development is their heating up to the workingtemperature at starting phase This kind of fuel cell consists of cathode electrolye anode layersand bipolar plates These layers have different coefficients of thermal expansion CTE s whichare thermal dependent and cuases thermal stress while these layers are heating up to theworking temprature If the fuel cell heated up suddenly with high rate it will be fracturedbecause of accruing high thermal stresses and power generation will be ended This research studies behavior of SOFC s in heating process at starting phase to achieve thebest and highest heating rate bye using finite element method Moreover mechanical andthermal contact problem its effect on accured stress is studied In as much as such comprehensivestudy on 5 ply stack considering thermal contact has done for first time there were not similarworks and results to compare the outcomes Hence in a simplified case to verify and confirm the computed outcomes by ANSYS incompared with one of the refrences
