AbstractIn this project we synthesized a new chiral ionic liquid S N N dibutyl nicotiniumbromide from S nicotine hydrogen tartrate salt under reflux conditions Then activitieson asymmetric induction of this chiral ionic liquid as chiral induction catalyst wereevaluated by reduction of acetophenone derivatives with NaBH4 in methanol at roomtemperature Then we describe a facile method for enantioselective oxidation of prochiralsulfides to sulfoxides with alumina supported potassium permanganate under solvent freeconditions in the present of this chiral ionic liquid In order to investigate effectiveness ofthis chiral ionic liquid all reactions also was performed with S nicotine hydrogen tartratesalt Results show that S N N dibutyl nicotinium bromide chiral ionic liquid was moreeffective in chiral induction rather than S nicotine hydrogen tartrate salt and productshave higher optical rotation and then better enantiomeric excesses Key Wordschiral ionic liquid enantiomeric excess reduction oxidation
