AbstractIon optical sensors are one of the most common sensors in chemistry They are used for determination of variousions in aqueous and organic solutions We report two ion optical sensors for sensitive determination of Ni II andCu II based immobilization of Sal2dapte and Qsal on plasticized PVC membrane The absorption spectra of theoptode membranes in the presence of different concentration of Ni II Cu II showed a pronounced changes ofabsorbance at 443 nm 541 nm and this property was used as an analytical criteria The effect of differentparameters such as complexation pH type of buffer contact time and Effect of membrane composition such astype of plasticizer amount of ionophore and NATPB as an anionic additive were investigated Under optimalcondition the membrane based Sal2dapte displays a linear range of 5 0 10 3 1 0 10 5 M with a limit of detectionof 8 1 10 6 M for determination of Ni II For membrane based Qsal obtain a linear range of 1 0 10 4 6 3 10 7M and detection limit of 3 4 10 7 M for determination of Cu II The responsetime of the optodes was about 7 12 min depending on the concentration of Ni II and 5 min for Cu II ions Therelative standard deviation for determination of Ni II were 3 62 and 2 06 for 3 0 10 5 and 5 0 10 4 M n 7 respectively and for Cu II were 5 34 and 4 76 for 2 0 10 6 and 1 0 10 5 M n 7 respectively The influenceof potential interfering ions on the determination of Ni II and Cu II were studied The selectivity of optode toNi II and Cu II ions in acetate buffer is good and the interference of Ag for determination of Cu II wereremoved by participated of Ag in the presence of Cl ion The sensor based Qsal could readily be regeneratedwith a hydrochloric acid solution 0 1 M and was fully reversible The sensors was applied for determination ofNi II and Cu II in real water samples
