Basic hydrogeological investigation along geophysical detection of probable oilleakage localities caused by oil pipeline pumping station No 4 Izeh using resistivity IP and GPR methods Firoozeh Ostovar f ostovar@yahoo com October 26 20009 Department of Mining Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Supervisor Dr N Fathianpur Language Persian Dr M TabaieAbstractSite Pump House No 4 Izeh distance about 40 km East city Izeh area overlooking theKarun 3 dam and near the main road Izeh Shahrekord is located Part of pipelines totransfer crude oil Maron Isfahan oil spill was affected area near the river downstream inthe south pump house site Number 4 to the oil spill has been reported area downstreamsite located in the south pump house Stained to determine the zones of contamination isused by geophysical study and through 7 survey apparent resistivity pseudo section andinduction polarity using pole dipole array Profiles length minimum is 50 and maximumof 740 meters and study the possibility of up to 120 meters deep has been achieved wellwith sufficient resolution Also 7 profiles GPR have according to electrical profiles aboveand interpretation survey at the same time In this thesis only three profiles 2 5 and 7 areevaluated Zones with low resistivity and high chargeability on the surface metalinstallations or fractures filled with clay and fine grains and young fault wellidentification are separated from possible contamination of oil and other handmadehuman instrument According to the results of interpretations of geophysicalcontamination is following possible diagnosed levels of geophysical three profiles 2 5and 7 It is worth mentioning the possibility of surface geophysical methods to determinethe exact flow or even be new oil pollution can not comment through real conductivityintensity changes formation includes of pollution to some extent in this regard A strongand relatively new contamination at profile 2 a relatively new and major contaminationof the 5profile and a relatively old pollution of 7profile were observed Keywords Apparent resistivity Induction Polarity possible oil pollution GPR profiles
