Applications of anionic mehrjan iran and Vicarlo Spania and cationic Mg Al LDH CO3 2 clays in Synthesis and immobilization of some nanoparticles immobilization of amylase and alkaline phosphatase enzymes praparation of Mn II sensor and bromonation of some Organic aromatic Compounds Mohammad Ebrahim Sedaghat sedaghat 1183@yahoo com Mar 8 2010 Department of chemistry Isfahan University of Technology 84156 83111 Isfahan Iran Prof M Ghiaci Email mghiaci@cc iut ac ir Isfahan University of Technology 84156 83111 Isfahan Iran Abstract In the first study nanocomposites of cadmium sulphide CdS and zinc sulphide ZnS on a bentonite have been prepared via an in situ precipitation route and their catalytic behaviour was evaluated in the degradation of eosin B In the second study A novel voltammetric sensor based on chemically modified bentonite porphyrin carbon paste electrode MBPCE has been introduced for the determination of trace amount of Mn II in wheat flour wheat rice and vegetables In the third study Immobilization of 6 amylase on bentonite modified with cetyl trimethylammonium bromide CTMAB below and above the critical micelle concentration CMC was studied and compared to 6 amylase adsorbed on Nabentonite The highest enzyme activity for free and immobilized 6 amylase was obtained in phosphate buffer 0 1 M at pH 6 2 The kinetic study of starch hydrolysis by the immobilized 6 amylase was investigated and compared with the free 6 amylase Approximately no change in Vmax and Km was observed for the enzyme immobilized on bentonite with bilayer surfactant coverage BBS in comparison with the free 6 amylase In the fourth study Alkaline phosphatase from calf intestinal mucous membrane was immobilized on the modified and unmodified Na sepiolite The effects of various factors such as concentration of enzyme solution pH and temperature of immobilizationmedium magnetic stirring and various thermodynamic parameters on the immobilization rate of alkaline phosphatase APh were evaluated pH 10 was optimal for enzyme activity for both the free enzyme and the sepiolite Sepiolite with bilayer surfactant coverage SBS had high ability for immobilization of APh APh immobilized on SBS showed approximately similar Vmax and Km in comparison with the free enzyme By immobilization of APh on Na sepiolite without surfactant SWS and sepiolite with monolayer surfactant coverage SMS Vmax decreased and Km increased In the fifth study An efficient fast simple mild environmentally acceptable and selective mono bromination of aromatic compounds with high para selectivity is reported The catalytic system is readily prepared from a Mg Al layered double hydroxide CO32 Br LDH CO32 Br as the source of bromide V2O5 as a promoter and hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant The use of hydrogen peroxide as a synthetically useful oxidizing agent is reported for generating electrophilic bromine in situ from easily available KBr as a bromine source to brominate electron rich aromatic compounds employing LDH CO32 Br as the phase transfer catalyst The phase transfer catalyst results in nearly complete bromination in 4 h at room temperature with high selectivity The heterogeneity of the reaction system facilitates the recovery and recycling of the catalyst and the reagent components are environmentally acceptable The catalyst LDH CO32 Br3 and its precursors LDH CO32 Br and LDH CO32 were characterized by powder XRD FTIR and UV vis spectroscopy Key Words Bentonite Iran Sepiolite Immobilization 6 Amylase Alkaline phosphatase Bromination LDH CO3 Br3 2
