128 Design simulation and produce possibly of 2D scanner in order to navigate gun of surface HVOF coating machine Rasool taghijarah taghijarah@yahoo com 1389 05 02 2010 07 24 Department mechanical engineering Isfahan University of technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Javad Zarkob Email j zarkob@cc iut ac ir Abstract This project has been defined by offering and support of Plasmatak Company in order to design and build a 2D scanner for navigating gun of surface coating mechanism by HVOF method As regards that HVOF process is one of the well developed processes in surface coating it was necessary to speak about it in the beginning of this work So in the beginning thermal spray process has been defined generally and then HVOF process is studied with more details and at the end reason of thriving of this method and its advantages are presented After some researches and primary studies about process and being familiar with equipments and methods of gun navigation design of tool was started At the beginning a general model was designed as for available systems and then optimized with respect to working condition and desired parameters Two sprocket wheel and timing belt mechanisms respectively are chosen in order to transfer vertical and horizontal motions and all calculations and designs are conducted Linear and rotary bearings of system have been designed based on velocity power and method of gun navigation Calculations and selection of proper bearings have been done with respect to applied forces and moments Based on other designed parts forces required motion accuracy for gun and available catalogs electrical motors have been chosen In order to control the system motion a simple command line has been designed General design with peripheral equipments was simulated in NASTRAN software Building of mechanism started by preparing standard parts and producing designed structure and finished by implementing guides bushings power transmission mechanisms and command line After building a sample mechanism based on designed concepts for comparing resulted coarseness of manual and automatic methods roughness test have been conducted on two sample parts and it showed that automatic method has better surface in the range of 1mm In the case of supplying built expenses and building a concept method completely and by concerning the high price of other available mechanisms designed mechanism can be used widely in parts or material transfer lines automation coloration lines etc Key Words HVOF Thermal Spray 2D Scanner Surface Coating
