Success rate of Pressurized Irrigation Systems in Isfahan Province Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the success rate of using pressurized irrigation system and factors that contribute to its effectiveness in Isfahan province Data was collected from 20 cities of Isfahan province by using stratified sampling Based on Cochran s formula sample size was 315 farmers who used pressurized irrigation systems A sample of 30 experts filled in a questionnaire to evaluate the success rate of the pressurized irrigation system The results showed that about 80 of users had a moderate weak level of success and only 20 of users were successful On the other hand from the farmer s viewpoint more than 70 of users had a moderate weak level of success and 30 were successful The results also showed that several factors contributed to the success rate They include individual characteristics of the famers social economic management and collaboration of supporting agencies and organizations before and after implementation irrigation system Results of regression analysis showed that farmers belief about the irrigation system their managerial skills their communication skills with supporting organizations and type of land ownership were the most effective factors that contributed to the success rate of the pressurized irrigation system Based on hierarchical analysis AHP for priority classification of physical component the results showed that the most important factor for sprinkler irrigation system selection was filed slope wind speed soil texture topography field dimension water chemical quality biological quality of water rainfall and temperature respectively Also the most important factor for trickle irrigation system selection was soil texture field slope chemical water quality biological water quality rainfall topography temperature wind speed and filed dimension respectively Finally the results of efficient use of water for wheat alfalfa and potatoes in the province were analyzed The results indicated that the volume of the water that farmer applied by sprinkler irrigation system for alfalfa was almost equal to crop evapotranspiration in the region However the volume of the water that farmer applied by sprinkler irrigation system was more than the region crop evapotranspiration for potato and winter wheat The province average of the efficient use of sprinkler irrigation system of water for alfalfa potato and winter wheat was compared with national average The results indicated that crop production per hectare was low in Isfahan province which could be due to weak in management Keywords management participation water use efficiency sprinkler irrigation trickle irrigation AHP
